With their a new album, Antics , the hope was that the band would lay to rest the material they’ve been touring on for the last three years in favor of new songs. They did provide a couple of previews: Longtime live nugget and Antics track “Narc” made another appearance, as did another new track, “Evil.” On the whole, the band seemed less confident in their new material, finding solace in the manic guitar slashes of “Obstacle 1” and “PDA.” The slow, ethereal “NYC” was one of the night’s highlights, its washes of sound pouring out over an eager crowd. I recently started listening to Interpol after borrowing a copy of Antics from a friend. It wasn't immediate for me, but after a few days I started to really get into it. And with "Slow Hands," the first single from their new album, Antics , getting serious radio play, Interpol are poised for the kind of mainstream success bands this artsy and cool rarely ever achieve.
